Tecnoambiente joins SUSTAINOW to advance smarter and sustainable offshore wind planning
Tecnoambiente is proud to participate in SUSTAINOW, a European project funded under Horizon Europe, developing innovative, open-access digital tools to support the sustainable planning and design of offshore wind farms across Europe.
Offshore wind energy plays a central role in Europe’s clean energy transition, but effective planning and decision-making is challenged by fragmented marine data and complex environmental and social considerations. SUSTAINOW will address these challenges by creating tools that improve marine data accessibility and interoperability and enable better integration of environmental, social, and economic information throughout the entire project lifecycle.
The project will deliver a suite of tools including:
- A cross-border marine data platform to enhance access to environmental, technical, and social data.
- An evidence-based siting tool to help identify optimal locations for offshore wind farms.
- A holistic project design tool that supports sustainable planning from early site selection through implementation and operation.
These solutions are being tested in the North Sea, with the ambition to support sustainable offshore wind planning across other European sea basins.
Within SUSTAINOW, Tecnoambiente contributes its expertise in sustainability assessment, environmental and social data management, and decision support. We will support the development of a comprehensive digital ecosystem, provide insights on environmental cumulative and socio-economic impacts, and help define sustainable and socially acceptable planning solutions. Our team will certainly help SUSTAINOW consortium to deliver robust, interoperable, and actionable tools to guide offshore wind development responsibly and efficiently across Europe.
